A Day of Celebration: DECOC’s 10th Anniversary and Elections

Last Saturday, October 26th, marked a momentous occasion as the Dynamique de l’Elite Congolaise en Corée du Sud (DECOC) celebrated its 10th anniversary alongside its annual general elections. The event drew a significant turnout, with 52 of the 80 anticipated attendees gracing the occasion.

The general elections were a resounding success, ushering in a new era of leadership. The newly elected Executive Board comprises Mr. Reagan Ingoma as President, Mr. Samuel Wawina as Vice President, and Mrs. Alice Kiyonga as General Treasurer.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the new board and look forward to their innovative leadership.

The 10th-anniversary celebration was a spectacular affair, attended by esteemed guests from various walks of life. The event was graced by the presence of the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to South Korea, H.E. ATOKI ILEKA, representatives from the Gabonese and Tanzanian communities, Congolese international footballer Paul Jose Mpoku of Incheon United FC, and numerous other distinguished individuals.

The DRC Ambassador commended the strong partnership between DECOC and the embassy, encouraging members to remain patriotic and contribute to the nation’s progress. The ceremony also featured a captivating historical overview of DECOC, followed by inspiring speeches from former board members and a current member representative.

We were delighted to welcome nine new students to the DECOC family, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences. Additionally, we took the opportunity to recognize and honor members who have made significant contributions to the community. Their dedication and commitment to service are truly commendable and serve as an inspiration to all.

The evening culminated in a delightful dinner featuring authentic Congolese cuisine, providing a perfect end to a memorable day.

As DECOC enters its second decade, we remain committed to fostering a vibrant community of Congolese professionals in South Korea. We look forward to many more years of growth, collaboration, and celebration.
